Camera Holding Tip #1: Hold your camera with BOTH hands.

This tip works whether you are holding a DSLR (big camera) or a point and shoot (small camera) or even the phone camera.

If your hand is unsteady, the camera is unsteady.

Camera Holding Tip #2: Hold your camera close to you and where possible, find a stabliser.

Keep your elbows tucked in and stand with both feet on the ground (you will be surprised how many people don't do this when using the camera).

Most importantly - stand on firm ground (know that bridges rumble so it doesn't matter that you are grounded when the ground shakes) or at least find something that helps to stabalise your camera (e.g. tripod works wonders....provided it is able to take the weight of your camera and lens and it doesn't shake or you can even use the wall to stablise yourself.)

Camera Holding Tip #3: Hold your breath or let it go. This is a personal thing.

I hear some suggesting that the best way to avoid camera shake is to hold your breath when taking your photo. Other photographers suggest that it is better to take a deep breath and breathe out half-way before pressing that shutter button. A few also say that the best is to press that shutter at the end of your out-breath.

What do you do? Try all three and see what works for you!
